The Circus Without Borders filmmakers and performers stop at Emerson College on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, for screening and performance as part of a week-long visit to Boston-area schools and universities.
There also will be a Q & A session with filmmakers Susan Gray and Linda Matchan and performers Guillaume Saladin from ArtCirq and Yamoussa Bangoura from Kalabante. Pulitzer Center Education Director Mark Schulte introduces.
Circus Without Borders follows the journey of friends, Saladin and Bangoura, as they try to bring their dreams into reality: to help the communities where they grew up. They focus on two communities—one in the Canadian Arctic where children are facing depression and suicide at a rate 10 times higher than the Canadian national average, and the other in Guinea, West Africa, where Guinean children deal with crippling poverty and few ways to improve their life.
ArtCirq and Kalabante are transforming their communities as they inspire hope through acrobatics and art. The film offers unique perspectives on stories of resilience and hope.
The Circus Without Borders visit is part of Emerson College's Bright Lights Film Series. Reservation requested.
