Education Director Mark Schulte Delivers Keynote at Peace Educators' Conference

Pulitzer Center Education Director Mark Schulte delivers a keynote at the Cuyahoga Community College on Friday, June 14 as part of the the 6th International Summit on Conflict Resolution Education (CRE), “Bridging Cultures: Education for Global Citizenship and Civic Engagement,” June 12-17 (pre-conference June 12-13). The conference will be held on the Western Campus.

According to the Cuyahoga Community College website, presenting various keynotes and workshop trainings will be government representatives and non-governmental partners from the United States and around the world, including Australia, Canada, Estonia, Ghana, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Nairobi, Philippines, The Americas, Trinidad and Tobago and the United Arab Emirates. Governments represented have legislation or policies in place to deliver CRE and related topics at the K-12 level and in colleges and universities. Presentations will focus on innovations in the fields that are making broad impacts in local, state, national and international communities. Attendees will include college/university and K-12 educators, students, public health officials, prevention specialists, probation officers, juvenile detention officers, and state, local, national and international policy makers.

Schulte's address is entitled “Telling Better Stories: Promoting a Sense of Global Citizenship and Shared Understanding with Pulitzer Center Journalism." His presentation will focus on the work of the Pulitzer Center in the fields of global journalism and education, and how it relates to conflict resolution. The Pulitzer Center's innovative, multi-faceted approach to international journalism and education provides sustained attention to too often ignored issues, allowing journalists to cover under-reported stories abroad and share their first-hand accounts with students in schools and universities across the United States.
