Holly Piepenburg, Outreach Coordinator at the Pulitzer Center, will present on how documentary journalism can be incorporated into peacebuilding lessons at the 8th Annual National Community College Peacebuilding Seminar.
Piepenburg will screen and discuss the documentary Victoria's Foil, a film by Brett Forrest and Brian Ryu, Pulitzer Center reporting fellows from Columbia University. Victoria’s Foil follows a Paralympic fencer as her Olympic aspirations are halted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 8th annual seminar will take place over Zoom on three consecutive Fridays and Saturdays from 12:00pm to 2:00pm EDT, beginning October 30. Piepenburg’s talk will be on Friday, November 13, 2020, at 12:15pm EST.
The National Community College Peacebuilding Seminar is an annual gathering of educators and students interested in the critical role that community colleges play in higher education. Participants learn about and share on a range of contemporary topics, including those related to peacebuilding, conflict, human rights, social justice, peace education, international affairs, and nonviolence.
