Photojournalist and Pulitzer Center grantee Sean Gallagher visits the University of Iowa on Wednesday, September 20 and Thursday, September 21, 2017, as part of a three-city tour through the U.S. to speak about visual storytelling and the environment.

Joined by Ann Peters, Pulitzer Center university and community outreach director, Gallagher speaks with several classes about the challenges of covering environmental issues, exhibits his own photography, and runs a visual storytelling workshop with faculty from the Colleges of Journalism and Public Health. He also delivers a seminar for the College of Public Health’s Global Public Health Week and Spotlight Series on Wednesday, September 20.

Gallagher, a six-time Pulitzer Center grantee, has been published internationally, appearing in Newsweek Magazine, TIME, CNN, The New York Times, National Geographic News, The Atlantic and BBC News.

The University of Iowa is the one of the most recent partner institution in the Pulitzer Center’s Campus Consortium Network, which numbers more than 30 two-and four-year colleges and universities. The program in Iowa City is an interdisciplinary collaboration linking the UI School of Journalism and Mass Communication with the UI College of Public Health, providing opportunities for students, faculty, and the broader community to engage with Pulitzer Center journalists during campus visits.
