Conditions in Haiti's Recently Collapsed Penitentiary

According to news reports, Haiti's national penitentiary is among the buildings that collapsed in the earthquake yesterday.

In May 2008, Pulitzer Center journalists visited the penitentiary. The video they captured revealed horrific conditions: up to 67 men in a single cell, human waste covering the floors, rampant physical and sexual abuse, and high rates of tuberculosis and HIV.
