Pakistan is a nation divided when it comes to traditional religious beliefs and the extent to which this should dictate political and legal agendas.
"Outlawed in Pakistan," a documentary produced by Nosheen and Hilke Schellmann, tells the story of a young Pakistani rape victim and her fight for justice from an inefficient and often indifferent legal system.
“Among the standouts," wrote The Los Angeles Times of "Outlawed in Pakistan" after it premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, where it was one of 15 short documentaries shown. It was also featured at the International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA). Watch a trailer here.
"Outlawed in Pakistan" will be broadcast nationally by PBS Frontline in Spring 2013.
