Organoponico Vivero Alamar Keeps Workers Happy

Everything about Organoponico Vivero Alamar (OVA) is calculated to be as efficient and sustainable as possible. OVA makes its own compost from animal waste and uses natural fertilizers and insect repellents. Fish in an open water holding tank, for example, keep the water from becoming stagnant and attracting mosquitoes.

Several of the OVA workers have degrees in science or agriculture. The sustainable nature of the farm makes it an attractive place for tourists and students of organic agriculture around the world. One observer, Alejandro Rivera, who wants to start his own version of OVA in Mexico, spent two weeks on the farm studying various methods of sustainability.
