In Poland, Energy Deep in the Earth Fuels Dissent Above Ground

Poland recently eased regulations on hydraulic fracturing--fracking--with the hope that potentially rich deposits of shale gas will help boost the economy, lower prices for consumers and reduce the country's energy dependence on Russia. But many local residents fear that concerns about the environment are taking a backseat to government and corporate interests.
