Award-winning documentary photographer Andrea Bruce wants Americans to examine what democracy looks like in their local communities and everyday lives. Our Democracy is her 2-year, open study of democracy across the United States. Each month, Bruce and her team will visit a new community, document their stories, and invite everyday citizens to participate in discussions about democracy.

Bruce's photo record of this unique time in the American experience will appear in a forthcoming issue of National Geographic. She invites all Americans to contribute their own reporting on democracy to her project and is currently exploring ways to publish citizen journalism alongside her work online.

The following collection of lessons, video resources, and teaching ideas offers gateways into Our Democracy for teachers and students in the United States and abroad. The collection will continue to grow over the next 2 years as Bruce travels the country.  Join Bruce's journey into Our Democracy.
