How interested are my students in global issues? Why is it important for students to investigate global issues? How can engaging with global journalism increase students’ interest in the world, understanding of how to critically explore news to access the world and ability to communicate underreported stories from their communities? These are just a few of the questions that will be addressed by Pulitzer Center staff and grantees at this year's UT at Austin Hemispheres Summer Institute for educators from Tuesday, June 11-Friday, June 14, 2019.
Senior Education Manager Fareed Mostoufi and grantees Emily Gogolak, Julian Aguilar, Jaime Joyce, and Marcia Biggs will present in Austin at the Hemispheres Summer Institute. During the three day conference, participants will examine ways in which journalism and media resources can be used to engage students through diverse curricula. The conference provides a unique opportunity to learn from Mostoufi and the grantees as they discuss ways in which global news, print and photojournalism, and other media resources can be use to support learning goals and increase students' engagement with pressing global issues.
