Meet the Pros: A Pulitzer Center Symposium at Westchester Community College

Join the Pulitzer Center at Westchester Community College April 26 for a symposium featuring Nathalie Applewhite and Stephanie Hanes.

Panelists
As managing director of the Pulitzer Center, Nathalie Applewhite has played a key role in the development of the Center's model and approach towards journalism initiatives and educational outreach. She was the managing producer on their interactive narrative projects: Heroes of HIV and the Emmy award-winning LiveHopeLove.

Before joining the Center, Nathalie worked nationally and internationally on documentaries, educational, political and commercial productions as a producer, director, and editor. She also worked as a consultant for the United Nations and as a project manager and media specialist for the University of Pennsylvania.

Nathalie's film Picture Me an Enemy (2002), about two young women from the former Yugoslavia, was nominated for a regional Emmy award, and won the best Documentary Award in the Philadelphia Film Festival's Festival of Independents.

Stephanie Hanes has reported extensively from Africa, the Caribbean and the U.S. She is a regular contributor to the Christian Science Monitor, and her work has appeared in dozens of publications, including The Baltimore Sun, USA Today, Smithsonian Magazine, and Africa Geographic.

She is a former staff reporter at The Baltimore Sun and now works regularly with the Pulitzer Center.

She was an Alicia Patterson fellow in 2008, and today is working on a book about environmental efforts in Africa; she is also the lead writer for the CSMonitor's Modern Parenting blog.
