Brendan Hoffman is a photographer based in Moscow, Russia, where he divides his time between assignments and personal work. For six years he lived in Washington, DC, where he often covered news and politics for clients including TIME, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Le Monde, Getty Images and others. His personal projects reflect his interest in the ways economic and political structures shape modern society. His ongoing photo essay “Stand the Middle Ground” is an exploration of contemporary middle class America in the context of free trade and the decline of manufacturing in a small Iowa town. Brendan's photography has been recognized by Pictures of the Year International, the White House News Photographers Association, American Photography 29, Review Santa Fe, the David Alan Harvey Emerging Photographer Fund, and the Dart Center for Journalism & Trauma, among others. He has worked in a variety of countries for both editorial and NGO clients, and is a founding member of the photography collective Prime.
