Edge of Joy screening

In the U.S. 1 in 4,800 women die in childbirth. In Nigeria it is 1 in 48. In the one-hour character-driven documentary, The Edge of Joy, filmmaker Dawn Sinclair Shapiro closely follows an ensemble cast of Nigerian doctors, nurses, midwives and religious leaders as they battle the second largest maternal mortality rate in the world.

Women Deliver Youth Leaders Workshop at the Washington Convention Center

Sunday, June 6 - 1:15pm – 2:45pm

The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting is co-hosting several skill building sessions for the Women Deliver Conference's Young Leaders at the Washington Convention Cener at 801 Mount Vernon Place NW, Washington, DC 20001-3614.

These sessions will discuss various ways and tools to communicate advocacy messages, including through multimedia (video, music, photography, etc); blogging and new media/web; radio and tv; and mobile technology.

Jon Sawyer addresses Bonner Summer Leadership Institute

On June 2, 2010, Pulitzer Center Executive Director Jon Sawyer gave the following remarks at the opening reception for college presidents and provosts at the Bonner Foundation's Summer Leadership Institute and 20th Anniversary Celebration, being held at Berea College in Berea, Kentucky.
